There’s no definitive news on this yet, but former Duke player Mark Mitchell is in court trying to get one more season like everyone else. And if he does get it?
There’s a lot of smoke around Mitchell to Kentucky.
Mark Pope has kept one roster spot open due to the turmoil in the sport now, and adding Mitchell would be a coup.
As Duke fans know, Mitchell, who transferred to Missouri after his sophomore year, is highly versatile. He can defend at least four positions, possibly five, and he’s a serious
factor offensively. If you put him opposite Milan Momcilovic, that’s an intriguing pair of forwards.
Kentucky’s roster is a bit unbalanced. Currently, Pope has six guards and four guys over 7-0. Mitchell would add an element to that team that’s lacking, and could make them a much better team.
All of it depends on his court case, of course, but given what we’ve seen lately, we’d bet he wins. It was originally scheduled for Thursday, but was postponed until Friday.
