Today, the Kansas City Current and North Carolina Courage have announced the trade of forward Gianna Paul for $150,000 in intra-league transfer funds.
“I am incredibly excited to join the North Carolina Courage. I’ve heard nothing but great things about this club on and off the field. The team is in a great place right now and I’m looking forward to contributing to the continued growth happening here,” Paul said.
“We’re delighted to bring Gianna to North Carolina. We followed her closely through college
where she was a stand out performer for Alabama. She’s shown flashes of real quality since turning pro, and we believe our environment is the right place for her to take the next step in her development. Her combination of size, speed, and the ability to stretch a back line is exactly the kind of attacking threat we’ve been looking to add. We know she has plenty more to give, and we’re excited to help her get there,” said Courage Chief Soccer Officer Ceri Bowley.
The rookie had earned 10 appearances with KC Current. She originally signed a contract with the club through 2028 with a club option for 2029. Paul arrives to NC Courage after a standout career for Alabama Crimson Tide as the career record holder for goals (40), points (94), shots (279), and shots on goal (115).
