After the disastrous game against West Virginia earlier in the week, we weren’t sure what to expect at Liberty, but it was clear that it was suddenly a very important game. And Duke came through, winning,
71-57.
The Blue Devils forced 17 turnovers, including 9 steals, and shot 51.5%
In the third quarter, Liberty cut the lead to 41-35 but Duke rebuilt the lead and pulled away, allowing only 7 points in the last 6:12.
It was a good response to the West Virginia loss, which came after junior Jordan Wood taunted a Mountaineer as halftime began.
For what it’s worth, Wood, who normally starts, didn’t play in this game. We haven’t seen any explanation, but unless she’s injured, it’s hard not to see that as a disciplinary measure.
Duke heads south next for a game with South Florida on Thursday.
