Over the years, the Green and White Spartans of Michigan State have found Greenville to be a nice home away from home, as MSU does an annual trip to Flour Field to escape the harsh weather in East Lansing. While Greenville has been a hospitable host to the club from the Big Ten, Wednesday night they will certainly feel like the road team as the #14 Clemson Tigers make the short trek for a midweek tilt. Clemson is coming off a huge series win over South Carolina, and while anytime the Tigers get a chance
to play at the mini Green Monster is a big deal, the atmosphere should be even more electric with Clemson’s strong start.
As of this writing, neither Michigan State nor Clemson have named starting pitchers. The Spartans come in at 3-7 on the year, but they began the year by taking 2 out of 3 from a Top Ten Louisville Cardinals team on the road. Michigan State was also swept in a road series at #3 Texas, so they have taken on some great top tier talent this year. In their Greenville residency, they have lost to Illinois, James Madison, Winthrop, but did get a win against Albany. Tonight’s game against the Tigers will conclude the stay in Greenville before the Spartans head to Lincoln, Nebraska for a Big Ten series with the Cornhuskers.
