Before the World Cup was over, Bayern Munich signed Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven and Nathaniel Broan from Eintracht Frankfurt. Additionally, they’ve signed Senegalese youngster Bara Sapoko Ndiaye on a five-year professional contract after his loan spell from Gambinos Stars. Aside from the aforementioned business, the club’s front office has said not to expect much more to happen in the summer transfer window as far as inbound transfers are concerned, though they have not entirely closed the door
to bringing someone else in.
Regardless of what may or may not happen with players coming in to the German Rekordmeister this summer, sporting director Christoph Freund and board member for sport Max Eberl have been tasked yet again with trying to lessen the club’s overall wage structure. The club is trying to prep contract extension offers for both Harry Kane and Michael Olise on top of the business they’ve already done with Saibari, Brown, and Ndiaye, so that will mean the club will still need to offload players this summer.
From Bayern’s preseason training camp in Tegernsee, Eberl explained that there’s currently three current players in the Bayern squad that are on the chopping block to be sold this summer. “We have three players we are open to letting go. They have no future at Bayern. If they want to stay with us, it will be tough because we are not planning with them. Then they won’t play a role. That’s the case with Sacha Boey, João Palhinha and Bryan Zaragoza,” he bluntly explained (via @iMiaSanMia).
The trio of players are coming off of loan spells with Galatasaray, Tottenham, and a combination of Celta de Vigo and AS Roma, respectively. For all three, it’s also been made clear that Vincent Kompany is not planning with them for the coming season, so the club is doing everything in their power to find appropriate suitors. Between the three players, there’s a total market value of €24 million per year in wages — a sum that Bayern needs to lessen the burden of in terms of their overall wage structure with the big planned extensions for Kane and Olise on the horizon.
Not for nothing, either, but trying to lower the club’s overall wage bill is something that Eberl’s future could hinge on. The supervisory board still needs to decide on whether or not they will offer him a contract extension, too.
