From the Nebraska Athletic Department:
Nebraska Head Coach Matt Rhule confirmed Sunday that sophomore quarterback Dylan Raiola will miss the remainder of the 2025 season with a lower leg injury. Raiola has started 22 straight games in his Nebraska career, including all nine games this season.
Raiola was injured while being sacked with just over 12 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter of last night’s game, a 21-17 loss to Southern California.
Raiola did return to the sideline with his helmet on after
being examined and per Matt Rhule, “He wanted to go.” However, Rhule was advised by trainers, while able to move around, Raiola would not be able to run. In that time, starting left tackle Elijah Pritchett had been injured as well and Rhule stated after the game, “At the end of the day, I don’t want to put a guy out there who can’t protect himself.”
True freshman T.J. Lateef will take over as the starting quarterback beginning next week on the road against UCLA. The Huskers will have a week for OC Dana Holgorsen to craft a game plan more in line with Lateef’s running skills. The offense was less effective after he took over while relying on Emmett Johnson and managed only a field goal after Raiola departed. Lateef finished 5-7 for 7 yards with 6 carries for 18 yards.
