It was recently announced that the upcoming WBC light middleweight title fight between division champion, Sebastian Fundora, taking on former WBA Super Welterweight champion, Keith Thurman, will no longer
go down on Oct. 25, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada, after Fundora suffered an injury.
Instead, the two men will face are now likely to throw down at the beginning of 2026, as a recent report revealed that promoters are hoping to re-book the fight sometime in January. Furthermore, the bout is expected to be co-headline Manny Pacquiao’s next fight, which will either go down on Jan. 24 or Jan. 31.
As of now, there is no set opponent for “Pacman’s” return after fighting to a majority draw against WBC Welterweight champion, Mario Barrios, in Las Vegas, Nevada this past summer (highlights here). Reports have Rolly Romero as the front-runner to face Pacquiao, though the World Boxing Association (WBA) recently ordered Romero — the current WBA welterweight champ — to next face No. 1 contender Shakhram Giyasov.
That said, they still have to come to an agreement before it becomes official. If not, then a fight between Romero and Pacquiao will not be completely off the table.
