Barcelona have made a decision on young defender Patricio Pacifico’s future in the wake of his devastating knee injury that is expected to keep him out of the game for a year.
Pacifico arrived on loan in winter but suffered a torn ACL towards the end of the season that required surgery and means he faces a long spell on the sidelines.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona still want to keep Pacifico and are now talking to his parent club Defensor about next steps.
Pacifico’s initial loan included
a clause that would have made his transfer permanent if he’d made 10 appearances for Barca. He only managed seven before getting injured but Barca still want him to continue at the club.
The report states that Barca want another loan and will include a new clause that makes the transfer permanent if he makes three more outings for the club.
Barcelona will still have to wait a long time to see Pacifico back in action. He’s not scheduled to return until the end of next season and has a long road back to full fitness ahead of him
