Don’t look now, but the Dallas Cowboys can make history on Saturday night. Recent history, at least.
Saturday marks the preseason opener for the Cowboys and the results of these games are not of utmost importance. Sure, it’s nice to win. But the most important thing for these exhibition contests is garnering information in the name of assembling the best 53-man roster possible for when the games truly do matter. All due respect.
If you do find yourself caring about the results of these games though,
you might be upset to find out that the Cowboys haven’t gotten off to a good start in the preseason in quite some time. Dallas has actually lost every preseason opener they have played since 2018.

The entire preseason was cancelled in 2020 in case you forgot, so maybe the streak would not be as long if it had been played. Whatever the case the last victory to start the preseason for the Cowboys was all the way back in 2017. For some time context that was the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game that happened with the ceremony where Jerry Jones was enshrined. It’s been a minute!
This week will see the Cowboys visit the Seattle Seahawks who are playing their first game of any kind since winning the game last year in Super Bowl LX. Dallas will likely be featured to a degree on next week’s episode of Hard Knocks as a result, by the way.
