Morgan Rogers has been officially announced as a Chelsea player tonight, completing his club record-breaking £117m move from Aston Villa. The 23-year-old has signed a six-year contract, good through 2032, with a club option for an additional year. Rogers becomes Chelsea’s most expensive incoming transfer of all time, breaking the record set with Enzo Fernández’s arrival three years ago.
So, certainly some expectations for Rogers to live up to, after starring for Villa these past two and a half seasons,
and also becoming an England international. He gets to link up with good friend Cole Palmer, so if this does work out as well as we may imagine, we will be cooking with … ice? So cold!
Anyway, welcome, Morgan!
“I’m so excited. For me, Chelsea are the biggest club in London and a club I’ve always admired since I was a kid. I’m really excited about the project with the new manager, the players we’ve got and where the club is heading. That’s why I’m here and I can’t wait to get started.”
