At this point, it would be shocking if the face of the league is not under center when the Kansas City Chiefs host the season premiere of Monday Night Football against the Denver Broncos on September 14.
After participating throughout the offseason program following his late-season ACL tear, we will presumably see Mahomes ramp up his action early in camp after an additional two months of rehab.
In an appearance on Wednesday’s edition of “Yahoo Sports Daily,” Mahomes discussed the rehab process that
he believes will have him ready to start the season. As with his previous media comments this offseason, however, the quarterback acknowledged that the decision is not his alone.
Appearing on Wednesday’s edition of Yahoo Sports Daily, Mahomes told Caroline Fenton that he’s going to give himself every chance to start the season on time.
“That’s my goal,” Mahomes said. “I’ve said that since the beginning is being ready to go Week 1. I can’t predict the future and I know that it’s a long process. It’s not just my decision, but at the same time I’m going to give the doctors and the coaches every single opportunity I can to let me be out there Week 1.
Were the Chiefs cursed in 2025? How their luck could change — and where it might not | The Athletic
Statement: The Chiefs should improve in clutch moments next season.
Verdict: Absolutely true.
We spent a lot of time last season discussing how the Chiefs trended toward being one of the most unclutch teams ever.
It all led to the most confounding part of 2025’s collapse: a year after the Chiefs rode a 12-0 one-score record to a Super Bowl appearance, they finished 1-9 in one-score scenarios last season.
That latter mark was historic. The Chiefs became just the second NFL team since 2000, per TruMedia, to have 10 one-score games and go 1-9 or worse.
Demercado’s career numbers paint a fascinating picture. Over three seasons with the Cardinals, he averaged 6.5 yards per carry, the top mark in the Super Bowl era among players with at least 100 carries. Demercado led the entire NFL in 2025 with 5.52 yards after contact per attempt and 7.1 yards per carry.
The unique situation with Demercado is that he is 27 years old, yet he has never had more than 79 touches in a single NFL season.
Chiefs Signing New Talent for Inaugural Creator Team | The Mothership
The Kansas City Chiefs announced the launch of “Kingdom Creators,” the club’s inaugural creator program designed to bring together a diverse network of creators, storytellers, and personalities who share a passion for Chiefs Kingdom and can authentically connect with fans through their own unique communities and platforms. Applications for the program are now open.
Launching with an initial roster of 30 creators, “Kingdom Creators” reflects the organization’s commitment to building a year-round creator ecosystem that extends beyond football and captures the cultural moments, stories, and experiences that unite Chiefs fans. As the Chiefs continue to grow their fanbase across the country and around the world, the program will help deepen connections with existing fans while introducing new audiences to Chiefs Kingdom through authentic, creator-led storytelling.
1 Trade Each NFL Team Should Consider Before the 2026 Season Starts | Bleacher Report
Kansas City Chiefs: Trade CB Kristian Fulton for a late 2027 pick
Assuming rookie first-rounder Mansoor Delane starts on the boundary, Nohl Williams, L’Jarius Sneed and Fulton will battle for the No. 2 spot. A third-round pick from the 2025 draft, Williams has upside. Sneed is back for his second stint in Kansas City and has experience in Steve Spagnuolo’s system.
Fulton will likely be the odd man out of the cornerback rotation.

Cowboys’ George Pickens to play on $27.3M tag as deadline passes | ESPN
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens will officially play the 2026 season on his $27.3 million franchise tender after Wednesday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline for tagged players to agree to long-term contracts passed.
This was an expected conclusion after the Cowboys announced before the NFL draft in April that they did not plan to hold talks on a long-term contract with Pickens. The last time the Cowboys signed a player tagged for the first time to an extension was wide receiver Dez Bryant in 2015.
Pickens has already signed his franchise tender, putting him under contract for the 2026 season.
The Saints’ all-time leading rusher has agreed to a restructured deal to remain in New Orleans, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported on Wednesday afternoon.
“Alvin’s goal, and the team’s goal, was for him to remain with the Saints and retire a Saint,” Kamara’s agent, Brad Cicala, told Garafolo.
New Orleans.Football’s Nick Underhill first reported the news that Kamara was finalizing a deal on The Set with Terron Armstead .
The new deal effectively concludes the uncertainty regarding Kamara, who was entering the final year of a two-year, $24.5 million contract with a Saints club that added Travis Etienne this offseason and put the future of Kamara, who will be 31 in 10 days, in doubt.
Despite a court ruling and an appeals court ruling that the claims brought by Brian Flores (against the Dolphins, Giants, Broncos, and Texans), Ray Horton (against the Titans), and Steve Wilks (against the Cardinals) must be decided in court, the NFL filed a motion to reconsider the ruling that slammed the door on arbitration.
On Wednesday, Judge Valerie Caproni denied the NFL’s latest motion.
The 15-page ruling begins with an expression of exasperation regarding the nearly four-and-a-half-year-old litigation: “This case continues to linger at the starting block. Or, to use a more fitting metaphor, this case continues to linger as the teams mill about in the players’ tunnels.”
Elsewhere in the written decision, there are some not-so-subtle indications of the judge’s impatience with the NFL’s efforts to keep fighting over a settled issue.

Chiefs training camp preview: Sorting out the slot defenders
Safety Christian Roland-Wallace
Slot snaps in 2025: 56
After playing 78% of his rookie snaps (153) in the slot during the 2024 season, Roland-Wallace continued to make an impact on the Chiefs’ defense in a limited fashion, but with more alignment diversity.
Roland-Wallace played 56 snaps in the slot, 60 as a free safety and 65 in the box (PFF). When he did see more time in the slot as a rookie, he was sent as a blitzer 20 times, earning two quarterback hits and four other pressures. He didn’t replicate that impact for the pass rush in 2025.
