Head coach Curt Cignetti announced that Indiana could be without Kellan Wyatt for the rest of the season after the defensive end left Saturday’s contest against Michigan State with a knee injury.
Wyatt transferred into Indiana this season after three years at Maryland. In three years there, he appeared in no fewer than 11 games. Adding in the seven games he played this year at Indiana, Wyatt is not likely to have any redshirt eligibility remaining.
Following Saturday’s game, Wyatt was fourth on the
team with 28 tackles, including 12 solo tackles. He was tied with Aiden Fisher for fifth on the team in sacks with 2.5.
After Wyatt went down the majority of his snaps were handled by Stephen Daley, another senior who has looked strong so far this season in more limited opportunities. Daley has 3.5 sacks on the season as part of 16 total tackles.
Indiana also utilized sophomore Daniel Ndukwe, who has seen time in five games this season but not recorded a stat.
This is not the first major injury that Indiana has dealt with this season, after losing running back Lee Beebe Jr. ahead of the Illinois game.
