Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has issued a couple of reports regarding Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck, a player Liverpool FC have been linked to over the past week.
The first
directly addresses a potential pursuit from Liverpool:
The second report then links the 25-year-old German international to Bayern Munich:
Given that it’s Florian Plettenberg, the very definition of hit or miss, I’m not very convinced Liverpool aren’t interested. Given BILD’s previous reporting that Schlotterbeck wasn’t considering an immediate extension, it’s just up to you on which mediocre source you choose to believe at this point.
As for Bayern’s interest, they’re in the exact boat as Liverpool, with a centre-back entering free agency in the summer in Dayot Upamecano. There have also been murmurs for the past few years now that they’ve wanted to get rid of Kim Min-jae, and well, Schlotterbeck is German, so them throwing their hat into the ring isn’t exactly hard to believe.
Dortmund may or may not be reluctant to sell another German international to Bayern (though it hasn’t happened in quite a while now), so that could be another factor that’ll come into play.
