Two wins and two losses kick off a week in which all four of the Dodgers minor league affiliates are playing at home.
Player of the day
Enjoying the benefits of hitting in front of Mike Sirota, Jake Gelof got the party started on what was a tremendous offensive performance for the Drillers, scoring 11 runs to beat the Naturals. After the first two reached in the opening frame, Gelof hit a three-run shot.
Now with 18 homers, Gelof already left
behind the 17 he had across two levels last season, doing it so in just 86 games, eight fewer than the 94 he played in 2025.
Triple-A Oklahoma City
It was the free passes derby between the Aviators and Comets with a combined 26 walks, as OKC fell on the losing end of an 8-to-6 matchup. The Comets faltered late, allowing two runs in the eighth and another one in the ninth with no response as they stranded 15 base runners.
Benefiting more than any other Comets hitter from this lack of command that plagued both pitching staffs, Zach Ehrhard reached base five times in six plate appearances, recording a pair of hits and three walks. Jack Suwinski was the other hitter with three free passes, and the team’s only home run came from Chuckie Robinson.
Although he was evidently far from being the only pitcher to struggle with walks in this game, José Rodríguez’s four walks in 1.1 innings, allowing two runs in relief, made him the losing pitcher of record.
Double-A Tulsa
Scoring eight runs in the game’s first four innings, the Drillers built enough of a cushion to withstand a six-run rally their pitching staff allowed in the seventh and eventually win the game 11 to 8. First baseman Jake Gelof, who hadn’t homered in the last 11 games, left the yard hitting one of four home runs the Drillers had against starter Felix Arronde.
The bottom of the order was just as impressive as the top, if not more so, in this one, with José Izarra and Frank Rodriguez combining for five of the team’s 12 RBI. Following the late scare the Drillers bullpen provoked, Carson Hobbs wrapped this one up with two scoreless innings to earn the save, striking out five.
High-A Great Lakes
Receiving no support from the rest of the top of the order, Charles Davalan was responsible for the two runs the Loons scored in a 5-to-2 loss to the TinCaps. Batting leadoff, Davalan hit his 17th home run of the season, the only extra-base hit recorded by a Loons hitter.
Speaking of home runs, Loons starter Isaac Ayon allowed a pair of them, with the TinCaps scoring all five of their runs off him, four of them earned.
Single-A Ontario
Recording five hits in 12 at-bats with a runner in scoring position—scoring at least a run in each of the first three innings as well as each of the last three—the Tower Buzzers came from behind to beat the Grizzlies 7-6 in walk-off fashion. Mairoshendrick Martinus drove in the game-tying run in the ninth on a double and later scored the winning run on a wild pitch.
Despite striking out three times, Easton Shelton made his one hit count, securing an RBI that now has him only six short of 100 in 2026. With Ching-Hsien Ko walking and scoring a run, all nine hitters in the lineup for Ontario reached base safely at least once, eight of them recording one base hit or more.
Starter Joel Cruz had yet another impressive performance, striking out seven in five innings and allowing just one run. Reliever Dailoui Abad earned the win by securing the last seven outs for the Tower Buzzers.
Transactions
Outfielder Jaron Elkins was promoted from the Ontario Tower Buzzers to the Great Lakes Loons. Left-handed pitcher Zach Root was promoted from the Great Lakes Loons to the Tulsa Drillers. The Loons also activated catcher Gio Cueto off the injured list.
