Mizzou has added another signal caller to its roster in advance of what is sure to be a spirited QB competition in spring and summer.
Just a few days after officially signing Ole Miss backup QB Austin Simmons, former UConn backup Nick Evers has also committed to joining the Tigers for the 2026 season.
Evers, a former blue-chip high school prospect,
started his collegiate career at Oklahoma before spending time at Wisconsin and eventually landing in Storrs in 2024. Evers won the Huskies’ starting job out of summer that season, but was eventually surpassed by Joe Fagnano, who started for UConn in 2025. Evers will see out his final year of eligibility in Columbia.
Evers’ commitment gives the Tigers three experienced options for their QB competition, including incumbent backup Matt Zollers, who ended the season as Mizzou’s QB1 after Beau Pribula transferred before the Gator Bowl. The Tigers will also have incoming true freshman Gavin Sidwar on the roster.
