The last few hours in Barcelona land have been dominated by the news of strong interest from Chelsea in midfielder Fermín López, with the Blues having contacted the player’s camp to express their desire to sign him and giving him a 48-hour deadline to decide his future before opening talks with Barça.
The latest reporting on the story comes from the reliable Ferran Martínez of Mundo Deportivo, who says that Barça are very calm about the situation and have zero desire to sell Fermín unless the player
himself requests a move. And even if he does, it’ll take quite a bit of money to complete the deal.
According to the report, Barça have set a price tag of €70 million for Fermín, which would be Chelsea’s record signing of this summer, one in which they’ve already spent over €200 million on incoming players.
The Blaugrana see Fermín as one of their best and most valuable young commodities, and the report says they will hold firm on their price if any negotiations ever take place.
Do you think €70 million is a fair price for Fermín, Barça fans?
