Joel Faglier pulled out a huge comeback win earlier tonight (Sat., Oct. 17, 2026) at UFC Edmonton LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, shocking former judoka Javad Mahjoub with a punishing second-round TKO (punches).
Despite his grappling background and incredible heavyweight size, Mahjoub was still a slight betting underdog heading into this weekend. It was a bit of a head scratcher since Faglier was also making his Octagon debut, but the oddsmakers must have
known something fight fans didn’t. It was that Mahjoub was nothing more than a one-round fighter.
Mahjoub, who fights out of the famed Tristar Gym, came out firing on his feet and ended up scoring three total knockdowns in the first five minutes of action. Unfortunately, Mahjoub couldn’t get the finish. Faglier was too tough and kept fighting to stay alive. Good thing he did because Mahjoub was completely exhausted entering the second round, which allowed Faglier the chance to unload punches to the body and head that wilted the former judoka and put a stop to the fight.
