It’s time for one of our traditional early off-season activities: the Sporcle where you have to try and remember the names of everyone who played for the Diamondbacks this year. It’s going to be a bit easier than last season, because we only used 56 people in 2026: 25 position players and 31 pitchers (not included there are the three position players who took the mound). That’s significantly down on the 65 used in 2025. If you took yesterday’s survey, rating the 2026 team, that might also help the ol’
memory banks. [If you didn’t, probably do so after playing this one!]
Still, there are names which will certainly pose a challenge. You only have to provide their last name, and I think I managed to filter out all the funky characters beyond A-Z, and also take into account certain players who did not see fit to limit themselves to just the one last name! The position players are first with a bit of help in the shape of their primary position, and are largely in descending order of PA. Then the pitchers, in descending order of innings. We may only be a few days after the end of the season, but if you can remember half of these names, I think you’re doing pretty well. 40 would be genuinely impressive.
