This is shaping up to be a special season for Bayern Munich striker and England captain Harry Kane.
The 32-year-old is lighting up the field with goal after goal, brace after brace. Having won the Bundesliga
title, he is thirsty for more — and next year’s World Cup is additional motivation, as the man explained himself.
“We’ve got a great chance for all the trophies this year. Whenever you start a season with Bayern, you’re favorites. We haven’t had great cup runs since I’ve been here so we want to try and put that right. Then in the Champions League, it’s still early stages but ultimately it’s about trying to win the competition. And going into the World Cup, you want to be at your best,” Kane said in a MailSport interview this week (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
The best part about this quote from a Bayern perspective? That line about cup competitions. Yes, it’s true. Bayern have had an absolutely wretched time in the DFB-Pokal of late — who can ever forget getting bounced by third-tier FC Saarbrücken? That was Kane’s first year, though he wasn’t a part of Thomas Tuchel’s XI. It’s about time the Bavarians put another Pokal-winning run together, and Kane may as well be the man to lead them there.
