The 2026-27 LSU athletics season kicked off last night with #16 LSU facing #18 Wake Forest in women’s soccer. The Tigers dropped their opener 2-0 to the Demon Deacons thanks to a pair of second-half goals. LSU will return to Baton Rouge ahead of their home opener against Northwestern State. The match is set for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff on Sunday, August 16, and will be the first regular season game in program history to require tickets to enter. The game will also be broadcast on SECN+.
LSU and Wake Forest
played to a scoreless first-half draw. The two teams had eight shots each in the first half, and Tiger keeper Audur Scheving made a trio of saves. In the second half, LSU tried to put on some pressure, but the ball never got past keeper Valentina Amaral. In the 69th minute, the Deacons got a corner and the ball bounced out to Dempsey Brown. She sent a screamer to the left of Scheving for an unassisted goal, the first of her career. In the 88th minute, Kylie Maxwell got into a one-on-one situation and buried home the dagger.
LSU moves to 0-4 in program history against Wake Forest, and Wake Forest extends their streak without a home loss to 17 games.
