What is the story about?

Astros
11, Rangers 0
- Well, that was ugly and unpleasant.
- Jacob deGrom wasn’t bad, he just wasn’t deGrom-esque. The homer bugaboo struck again, and he ended up not going as deep in the game as you would have liked, needing 97 pitches to get 16 outs.
- deGrom did get 19 swinging strikes, and that is very impressive. And really, it didn’t matter what deGrom did in this game, given how impotent the offense was.
- Eight Astros runs in the final two innings makes for a much nastier final score, of course. Hoby Milner appears to have fully morphed into a pumpkin at this point, letting all three batters he faced reach, and allowing three runs for the second outing in a row.
- And Caleb Boushley being unable to get the final out of the ninth, albeit with Josh Jung bearing some blame for that as well, meant having to ask Ezequiel Duran to finish off the ninth inning.
- Duran still has a 0.00 ERA on the year, remarkably enough.
- The ongoing issues with runners in scoring position continued for the offense, as the team went 0 for 9 with runners in scoring position. The Rangers were just 4 for 22 without runners in scoring position, though. The problem wasn’t not hitting with runners in scoring position, it was not hitting, period.
- Jacob deGrom’s fastball topped out at 99.0 mph, averaging 97.3 mph. Cole Winn’s fastball reached 97.6 mph. Hoby Milner’s sinker touched 89.0 mph. Luis Curvelo hit 97.1 mph with his fastball. Caleb Boushley topped out at 94.6 mph with his sinker.
- Alejandro Osuna had a 105.6 mph ground out, a 102.3 mph single and a 101.1 mph fly out. Josh Smith had a 104.9 mph single. Josh Jung had a 101.3 reached-on-error.
- Okay, just need to shake it off and take the series on Sunday.
