Terence Crawford’s trainer Brian McIntyre spent a few minutes talking with boxing media following Terence Crawford’s latest conquest, outpointing Canelo Alvarez to go undisputed at super middleweight. Here McIntyre hints that Crawford is unlikely to call it a career at this point as he looks towards what’s next after Crawford takes some time off. Check out some of what he had to say.
McIntyre on whether it’s time for Crawford to retire
“You know what? We going to get back in the gym. We gonna get back in the gym and we’re going to assess that. Right
now I just want him to go on vacation, have some fun, spend some time with his family ‘cause we trained for like probably a half a year for that fight. A lot of time spent away from home, a lot of time spent away from the family so I just want him to get back home.”
On if there’s any need for Crawford to face David Benavidez
“No, man. We ain’t doing that fight.”
On whether Crawford will vacate his 168 lb titles
“No, we ain’t going to vacate the belts. We just going to sit where we need to sit for a minute and then, like I said, get back in the gym and do our thing.”
On being vindicated by saying Canelo sparring Boots wouldn’t help him in the fight
“I said that — don’t mean sh-t because he’s no Bud Crawford. I’m not taking nothing from Ennis, you know, Boots and Bozy, them over there my guys. Sh-t, but bringing in that which is good for Canelo but it didn’t do no f-ckin’ good in the fight.”
