According to a report from Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Chelsea wants €40 million from Bayern Munich for attacker Christopher Nkunku:
🚨🔴 FC Bayern and Chelsea remain in talks over a potential deal for Christopher #Nkunku. There is still work to be done, and it remains uncertain whether a deal will go through.
However, personal terms are not an issue – Nkunku is keen to join Bayern. The key factor is an agreement between the clubs and finding the right structure for the deal. It is understood
that Chelsea are currently expecting €40 million plus add-ons. #CFC
While Nkunku would fill a role this season, it is fair to wonder if paying as much as €40 million for a player who would be a backup from January 2026 moving forward is worth it — especially when the club is unwilling to pay €65 million to €75 million for VfB Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade, who could be the striker in Bavaria for the next decade.
Decisions…decisions.
Bayern Munich travels to VfB Stuttgart for the Beckenbauer Supercup (formerly the DFL-Supercup) in what should be a highly anticipated match-up between two teams with high hopes for the 2025/26 season.
VfB Stuttgart advanced to the Beckenbauer Supercup by virtue of winning the DFB-Pokal, while Bayern Munich will be playing because it won the Bundesliga championship. Let’s get into all of the ins and outs of this showdown (including the awkwardness of the situation given how Bayern Munich and VfB Stuttgart are battling over Nick Woltemade):
- What to watch for with VfB Stuttgart.
