Brothers Michael and Richard Olise both started playing football at a young age and have stayed in the sport for a long time. While Michael bounced around from academy to academy, with his stint at Chelsea FC the longest at 7 years, Richard stayed in the Chelsea academy nearly his entire career. He joined at U-9 level and moved up through the ranks on a steady basis, even making the Blues’ squad for their Conference League trip to Astana in the 2024/25 season. However, the 22-year-old was recently
released by Chelsea and is currently without club.
As the older (and currently more successful) brother, could Michael give his brother some advice to help him out? This was a question posed to the former Reading FC player in an interview with Highsnobiety, but Michael believes that such advice would not be conducive:
“We never talk about football to be honest,” Olise confided, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “We are both in it so much. We talk about life. When you have a setback, take it as a lesson. Use it as time to grow. Someone always has something worse than what you are experiencing. There is no time to complain. Digest what happened, then move on.”
Michael had to overcome his own release from the Chelsea academy and has battled back to become a truly phenomenal player. If Michael can do it, will Richard do so too?
