The Minnesota Vikings will be without top wide receiver Justin Jefferson for their Week 4 game against the Miami Dolphins, head coach Kevin O’Connell told the media on Friday. Jefferson is dealing with an ankle injury that he sustained during the team’s Week 3 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Vikings will rely on wide receivers Jordan Addison and Jauan Jennings in Jefferson’s absences.
The four-time Pro Bowl receiver has 13 receptions for 179 yards and two touchdowns this season.
O’Connell
had indicated earlier in the week that he was optimistic that Jefferson would be able to play, but the receiver will now have to sit out at least Sunday’s game. The loss of Jefferson is not a good situation for quarterback Kyler Murray and the Vikings’ offense, which is statistically the worst offense in the NFL through three weeks, averaging just 238.3 yards per game.
In comparison, the Dolphins rank 27th in total offense this year, averaging 290.7 yards per game.
The full injury report will be released Friday afternoon.
