One more week of opponent scores and we had a stunner in Happy Valley and another Big Ten firing. Things are heating up.
Ball State Cardinals (2-4) Lost 42-0 at Western Michigan Bad Ball State is back after
getting dismantled by WMU. Ouch.
Southern Illinois Salukis (4-2)
Lost 45-17 at North Dakota State
SIU may be one of the better FCS teams, but NDST is still the cream of the crop.
#20 USC Trojans (5-1)
Won 31-13 vs #15 Michigan
After their first loss, USC responded well and won comfortably against Michigan at home. The Trojans are squarely in the second tier of the Big Ten.
#13 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (4-2)
Won 36-7 vs NC State
Notre Dame is gonna play their way into the CFP, aren’t they?
Illinois Fighting Illini (5-2)
Lost 34-16 vs #1 Ohio State
Well at least it was closer than the IU game. But at least the only two losses on the season for the Illini are to #1 and #3 right now.
Minnesota Golden Gophers (4-2)
Won 27-20 vs Purdue
This loss for Purdue feels more reflective on their mistakes than Minnesota taking the game. But the Gophers still get the win.
Northwestern Wildcats (4-2)
Won 22-21 at Penn State
Northwestern can now boast that they got 2 head coaches fired, including James Franklin. Penn State was a broken team though and Northwestern pushed them over the top to win.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights (3-3)
Lost 38-19 at Washington
This is the Rutgers we know. Undefeated in non-conference and now winless in conference so far. Hopefully Purdue can continue that trend in two weeks.
Michigan Wolverines (4-2)
Lost 31-13 at USC
The Wolverines aren’t back yet but they still can be frisky against lesser teams. USC is not one of them.
#1 Ohio State Buckeyes (6-0)
Won 34-16 at Illinois
OSU is a heavy favorite to win out considering Penn State is broken and Michigan is struggling. The only other opponents are Purdue, UCLA, Rutgers, and Wisconsin. But 1 false move spells trouble for the Buckeyes.
Washington Huskies (5-1)
Won 38-19 vs Rutgers
The Huskies are moving up and looked good albeit against Rutgers.
#3 Indiana Hoosiers (6-0)
Won 30-20 at #3 Oregon
Not sure many folks saw that one coming. We can only hope that Florida or Penn State come after Curt Cignetti because that guy is a winner.
