On this week’s episode of Raw (May 18), Michale Cole announced the names of WWE superstars
who are scheduled to appear at next month’s UFC Freedom 250 Fan Fest event taking place on the South Lawn of the White House.Although most of the WWE names on the list didn’t cause a stir among fans, Chelsea Green’s inclusion in the event received immediate backlash from many of her supporters.
The criticism towards Green stems from her past stance on political issues, with the first-ever U.S. Women’s Champion
being viewed as more progressively minded than other members of the WWE roster. As such, many of her fans were upset she would appear at the White House given some of the current presidential administration’s policies.
Responding to a fan on X (Twitter) who wrote “guess the check cleared” in reference to Green’s participation in the event, the WWE star defended her participation in the event as “doing my job,” while noting she will still continue to “advocate for human rights.”
While Green has avoided making any direct public attacks on President Donald Trump in the past, she hinted at her feelings about the Republican leader when Hulk Hogan passed in July 2025. Speaking to CBS News 24/7, she referenced the “polarizing political views” held by the MAGA-embracing Hogan.
The comment led to online rage from conservative wrestling fans, and Green later clarified her thoughts on X while standing firm against racism.
“A significant part of my role at @WWE involves engaging w the public & responding to questions, often on live platforms,” she posted. “Yesterday, I was asked to comment on Hulk Hogan on live tv. Let me be clear: my stance on racism is unwavering. I do not condone it—period. If my response (or tweet) seemed dismissive of real concerns, I sincerely apologize. That was never my intention. I tried to acknowledge a death respectfully, even when the legacy is complicated. I am learning one day at a time and will continue to learn. ILY my PatriHOTS, President Chelsea.”
Green has also long been an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, which is a segment of the population that critics of the Trump administration say has been harmed by the president’s policies.
One memorable instance of Green shutting down transphobia came in March 2025 when an X user asked how she would feel sharing a bathroom with Roman Reigns if he one day “decided he was a woman.”
“I hate to break it to you but not only have I shared locker rooms with all genders, I’ve also shared bathrooms. So no, I wouldn’t give a f*ck,” she wrote. “In fact, I’ve got family members that are trans so I’ve given not just 10 seconds of thought to this, but close to 30 years and 10 seconds of thought. If you’d like to take your bigotry elsewhere, I would greatly appreciate that.”
The social media user who made the “guess the check cleared” comment in regards to Chelsea included a screenshot of the above 2025 tweet from Green.
In response, Green wrote: “Doing my job and supporting the community are not mutually exclusive. I’ll continue to do what I can to advocate for human rights whether you approve or not.”
Other WWE stars announced for the UFC Freedom 250 on June 13-14 include Charlotte Flair, The Miz, Trick Williams, The Usos, Tiffany Stratton, and Bron Breaker.
