Manon Fiorot bounced back from her title fight loss in a big way after she laid waste to Jasmine Jasudavicius in the first round at UFC Vancouver.
It was a disappointing night for Fiorot when she faces reigning UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko but apparently she decided to take out all her frustrations on Jasudavicius.
As soon as the fight started, Fiorot was setting traps with her strikes, trying to get Jasudavicius to step into one of her biggest punches and it didn’t take long for the game
plan to pay off. As soon as Jasudavicius moved forward to answer an exchange, Fiorot unloaded a perfectly timed straight left hand that blasted the Canadian fighter and put her on wobbly legs.
Fiorot immediately took her to the ground where she just started unloading shots until referee Dan Miragliotta had no choice but to stop the contest with the end coming at 1:14 in the opening round.
“I wanted to come back in here, after my last fight, I was a little depressed,” Fiorot admitted after her latest win. “It was a rough time for me. But we were able to recover and get back in here with a big win.
“We worked a lot on our boxing. We were confident that we were going to come in here [and win] and there you go.”
It was a very impressive showing from Fiorot, especially after she came up short in her bid to become champion, but that apparently only lit a new kind of fire inside of her moving forward.
The knockout win re-establishes Fiorot as one of the top fighters in the world at 125 pounds while Jasudavicius actually complained about the stoppage but replays showed that the referee clearly made a good call. The result stops Jasudavicius’ five-fight win streak as she tastest defeat for the first time since 2023.
