Solé Williams arrived at Florida State ahead of the 2025-26 season after transferring from Texas A&M. Now entering her second season with the Seminoles, Williams is preparing to take on a bigger leadership role as a senior.
Last season, Williams appeared in 29 games, scoring 438 points while recording 110 rebounds, 87 assists, 27 steals and two blocks.
With another season of experience at Florida State, Williams understands the responsibility that comes with being a senior and the importance of setting
an example for her teammates.
“I think about it almost every day, just trying to figure out what I can do to, you know, be better as a person and what I can bring to the team that my team needs from me,” Williams said. “Um, it just makes me be very intentional about my days and just not going day by day, just trying to get by.”
For Williams, that growth has extended beyond her performance on the court. She has also focused on becoming mentally stronger and more consistent as she prepares for an increased role this season.
“I feel like I’ve been growing the most in my mental aspect of just becoming stronger mentally and uh, more mentally tough, knowing that this season I have a bigger role and I’m a senior and I have a lot of, of my teammates that are looking up to me,” Williams said. “So just knowing that I have to be that example for them and that leader for them… So just trying to show up every day consistently.”
Williams has also developed under head coach Brooke Wyckoff, who has encouraged her to become more aggressive offensively.
“I feel like my biggest adjustments would probably just be getting used to, you know, being aggressive, you know, coming here, Brooke, that’s what Brooke wanted,” Williams said. “She fed a lot of confidence into me to become more aggressive because coming from kind of where I came from, I wasn’t.”
Before arriving in Tallahassee, the Cincinnati, Ohio, native earned a spot on the 2023-24 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll at Texas A&M. During her time with the Aggies, she also recorded nine games with at least two made 3-pointers.
While Williams brings experience to the Seminoles, she also recognizes that leadership extends beyond basketball.
As Florida State welcomes new freshmen and transfers, Williams has made an effort to build relationships with her teammates and help them feel comfortable in their new environment.
“I try to make sure I have a relationship with almost all of them,” Williams said. “I’ve tried to allow them to know that, you know, I am a person just like them and they can come to me for any and everything.”
For Williams, those connections extend beyond basketball.
“I try to hang out with with them outside of basketball, do special things with them and just make sure that they’re feeling welcome as far as freshmen and the transfers coming in,” Williams said.
As Williams prepares for her senior season, her focus remains on improving each day, building relationships with her teammates and embracing the responsibility of helping lead Florida State as a senior.
Williams and the Seminoles will open their 2026–27 regular season against Merrimack on Monday, Nov. 2, at 6 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center in Tallahassee.
