Missouri volleyball’s five-match winning streak came to an end Thursday night in Lexington, Kentucky, as the Tigers fell to Kentucky 3-0 at Historic Memorial Coliseum.
The Wildcats (25-16, 29-27, 25-17) controlled much of the match offensively, hitting .327 as a team while holding Missouri to a .168 hitting percentage. Kentucky also finished with 54 kills compared to Missouri’s 29, creating a significant gap in offensive production.

particularly from outside hitters Morgan Gaerte and Brooklyn DeLeye. Gaerte led all players with 19 kills on 40 attempts, hitting .350. DeLeye added 16 kills while hitting .344 and recorded three service aces.
The Tigers had opportunities to even the match in the second set but could not capitalize. After dropping the opening set 25-16, Missouri responded with its strongest offensive showing of the night, recording 14 kills and hitting .233.
Missouri pushed Kentucky to extra points in the second set, but the Wildcats eventually secured a 29-27 victory to take a commanding 2-0 lead. The Tigers’ inability to close out the set proved costly, as Kentucky carried its momentum into the third.
Kentucky dominated the final set, holding Missouri to five kills and five errors on 20 attempts. The Tigers finished the set with a .000 hitting percentage as the Wildcats hit .333 to close out the sweep.
Paige Felder and Lydia Stahley led Missouri with six and seven kills, respectively. Grace O’Reilly and Kimani Johnson added five kills apiece, while Lauren Larkin contributed three kills without committing an error.
Defensively, Ainoah Cruz led the Tigers with 14 digs, while setter Nina Mandovic recorded 14 assists. Missouri finished with 32 digs and six total blocks but struggled to slow Kentucky’s offensive production.
Kentucky setter Kassie O’Brien distributed 43 assists as the Wildcats totaled 50 assists and 47 digs. The Wildcats also held a considerable advantage in sideout percentage, converting 75.8% of their opportunities compared to Missouri’s 58.4%.
The loss snaps Missouri’s five-match winning streak and gives the Tigers a setback as they continue their SEC schedule. After building momentum during the winning stretch, Missouri will look to regroup and rediscover its offensive consistency following Thursday’s three-set defeat. Mizzou is now 13-9 on the year and play No. 6 Tennessee Sunday at Hearns.
