The Iowa State swimming and diving program announced its 2026-27 season schedule on Tuesday, looking to build on a year where Maggie Bendell, Kendall Mallers and Grace Swoboda earned Second Team All-Big 12 honors. Kendall Mallers, Swoboda and Anja Peck qualified for the National Invitational Championships (NIC) in the 2025-26 season.
The Cyclones will debut their season at Beyer Pool on Sept. 18 for the annual Cardinal and Gold intrasquad meet. The regular season officially opens on the road, beginning
Oct. 2 at Nebraska, followed by appearances at the Florida State Invite on Oct. 9-10 and a dual at Illinois on Oct. 16-17.
Home action returns in November as Iowa State hosts South Dakota for its first regular-season home meet before traveling to the Hawkeye Invite from Nov. 18-21. Cyclone divers will attend the Minnesota Invitational from Dec. 3-5, the last competition before break.
The 2027 slate commences in Ames with an in-state matchup against the University of Northern Iowa on Jan. 9. Iowa State travels to Houston for the Big 12 Dual meets on Jan. 16-17, the Cyclones face a quick turnaround in late January, hosting St. Thomas on Jan. 29 before heading to Iowa City the next day for the Cy-Hawk series meet. The dual season wraps up Feb. 5 against Kansas in Lawrence.
Postseason competition is scheduled to start Feb. 23 at the Big 12 Championships in Greensboro, N.C.. In March, the team will split for the Zone Diving Qualifications (March 8-10) and NCAA Championships (March 17-20) in Austin, Texas, while the NICs are set for March 11-13 in Ocala, Florida.
Iowa State swimming is coached by Matt Leach who is in his third season. Head diving coach Jeff Warrick enters his 29th season with the Cyclones and Morgan McGhee is in her third season in Ames.
