Across the 2023-24 season and into the first half of 2024-25, young Liverpool striker Jayden Danns looked to be on the verge of forcing his way into the first team picture at Liverpool. However, a back injury early in 2025 saw his development put on pause and then in 2025-26 his minutes were limited.
With Danns not playing a major role in pre-season this summer, that meant most were expecting the now 20-year-old Scouser to head out on loan in search of playing time. On that front, Championship side
West Bromwich Albion were rumoured to be perhaps the top suitors and frontrunners for his services.
However, with the transfer window now into its final day and set to slam shut this evening, word out of the club is that Danns has done enough in training that new head coach Andoni Iraola wants to keep him at the club to train with the first team and at least see action in the League Cup through the autumn.
It’s always a difficult choice between sending a young player on the fringes of the first team out in search of more regular minutes or keeping him around to train and play in the cups, but Danns didn’t look far off before his injury setback and hopefully this is a sign he doesn’t have much catching up to do.
