The Jets recently came to terms with starting offensive lineman Joe Tippmann on a multi-year contract extension. Tippmann, a second round pick in 2023, was entering the final year of his rookie deal. The new agreement is for four years and $62 million.
Recently in our SB Nation Reacts poll we asked Jets fans whether they like the move. The response was overwhelming.
Tippmann has played well at two positions. While he is a natural center, he slid over to guard in 2025 after Alijah Vera-Tucker’s preseason
injury forced a reshuffling of the offensive line and played well.
It’s tough to see what is not to like about this move. Tippmann is a solid young player. The Jets could extend him without stressing their salary cap situation. And the deal itself appears fair on the surface. You can’t get 98 percent of Jets fans to agree on many things, but this new contract is an exception.
