The New England Patriots’ inactives list for their game against the New York Jets was mostly known on the eve of Thursday Night Football. The team of head coach Mike Vrabel already ruled out four players
as part of its final injury report.
Besides those previously-known inactives, the most notable name on the full list published 90 minutes before kickoff is defensive tackle Joshua Farmer.
The fourth-round rookie is missing the contest due to an ankle injury. He had appeared in all 10 previous games this season and has 11 tackles and a fumble recovery to his name so far but missed back-to-back practices this week, prompting the team to list him as questionable on Wednesday’s final injury report.
Farmer’s absence opens the door for fellow defensive tackle Eric Gregory to leave the ranks of inactives for the first time in his career. The undrafted rookie, who was claimed off waivers from Cincinnati in late August, is set to make his NFL debut on Thursday night.
The rest of the Patriots’ inactives looks as follows.
Patriots inactives
- QB3 Tommy DeVito
- RB Rhamondre Stevenson
- WR Kayshon Boutte
- TE Austin Hooper
- OL Caedan Wallace
- DT Joshua Farmer
- LB Christian Elliss
The Patriots’ inactives list for their second prime time game of the year features some prominent names.
Running back Rhamondre Stevenson will miss his third straight game with a toe injury, with wide receiver Kayshon Boutte and linebacker Christian Elliss now having missed two in a row because of their respective hamstring and hip issues. Joining them on the list is tight end Austin Hooper, who was placed in concussion protocol coming out of Sunday’s win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Patriots additionally decided to deactivate a pair of familiar faces. Tommy DeVito continues to serve as the No. 3 quarterback, meaning that he will dress for the game but can only enter if both Drake Maye and Joshua Dobbs become unavailable, while Caedan Wallace remains an emergency options along the interior offensive line
This also means that running back Terrell Jennings, as previously reported, is indeed good to go for the game.
Jets inactives
- RB Khalil Herbert
- TE Jelani Woods
- ED Braiden McGregor
- LB Ja’Markis Weston
- CB Azareye’h Thomas
The Jets entered Week 11 with two players originally ruled out. Besides No. 3 cornerback Azareye’h Thomas, they also had wide receiver Garrett Wilson listed among the pending inactives on Wednesday due to a knee issue. However, they have since placed him on injured reserve, thus negating the need to rule him out.
Kickoff between the Patriots and Jets at Gillette Stadium is set for 8:15 p.m. ET.
