With the World Cup drawing to a close, it is high time for clubs in Europe, including Bayern Munich, to start preparing for preseason.
Before the 2026/27 season kicks off, Bayern Munich will be going on a short training camp to Tegernsee as per tradition, before embarking on a week-long tour of South Korea and Hong Kong from the 1st to 8th of August.
According to Kicker, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, Bayern had decided that any player whose country goes past the quarterfinals of the World Cup would not
be joining the Asia tour. This would rule out France’s Dayot Upamecano and Michael Olise, and England’s Harry Kane.
Every player will get three weeks of holiday. The first international player expected back for training is South Korea’s Kim Min-jae, who was the only player to exit the World Cup in the group stage. As for Bayern’s German internationals, they would be expected back next week. Whether that would make them available for Bayern’s first preseason game against Wehen Wiesbaden (which is next Saturday) remains to be seen.
Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies, both nursing respective ailments, are expected to be available for the tour, while new signing Ismael Saibari is being diagnosed at the time of writing to determine his availability for preseason. Another question remains about Luis Díaz. As Colombia was eliminated in the round of 16, he would theoretically be on the plane to Asia, but Bild had previously reported that Vincent Kompany would be giving his starting attacking trio a sizable break after their long season in 2025/26.
