Barcelona Atletic coach Juliano Belletti is in optimistic mood ahead of the start of the new 2025-26 season.
Belletti says his players will be gunning for promotion, following relegation last year, and feels they are in good shape after pre-season.
“The truth is that it’s been a very good preseason. The team is clearly very excited, I’m taking advantage of this and putting intensity into the training sessions,” he said via Mundo Deportivo.
“We’ve had some good friendlies. The experience at the Maracanã
was very positive. We’re arriving in good shape, with a lot of confidence, but knowing what we have to do. In other words, we’re taking it game by game, but understanding Barça Atlètic ‘s objective , and you can see that the players are very motivated for this.”
However, Belletti is also mindful that a major part of his job is to help develop players and make sure they are ready for Hansi Flick’s first team if needed.
“The first objective as an institution, as a team, is to better prepare the players for the first team, that is, not only physically and technically, but mentally as well, in a reserve team. They have to be available for the first team, and my job as a coach and as a staff is to enhance the talent of these players,” he added.
“Then we have an objective for Barça Atlètic, which is to move up a division, but going little by little, in the context that we have to go week by week, also thinking about the first team playing our games and of course we have the members and the fans, who we have to give them the option of enjoying our games and that’s what we will do.”
Barcelona Atletic kick off their campaign on Sunday against newly promoted UE Porreres.
