Lennart Karl earned a first ever Champions League start with Bayern Munich against Club Brugge, in only his second appearance in the tournament, and he opened the scoring with a sumptuous finish after
only five minutes played. He earned a Player of the Match award afterwards, while Christoph Freund can only praise the club’s new starboy.
“The coach trusted him, and before the game we said to each other: ‘We have a feeling the boy will score his first goal today.’ – And it happened”, Freund told Sky Sports (via Kerry Hau as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). “Everyone was delighted for him. It’s a nice story.”
Karl is only 17 years old but he’s already making a name for himself at the highest level. The heir to the throne…of Jamal Musiala’s #42, he’s doing the number justice as he continues to impress in the absence of his predecessor.
