There’s no love lost between British boxing greats Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
The two former champions have been discussed as potential opponents for the better part of a decade now, and yet the matchup has never materialized. Since both have taken a few losses, however, the road is suddenly paved for Fury vs. Joshua, which is now expected to go down atop a Riyadh Season mega-event in the second half of 2026
.Before then, Joshua will battle Jake Paul this Friday (Dec. 19, 2025) on Netflix in Miami,
Florida. It wasn’t a planned matchup for either man, but when Paul’s original opponent Gervonta Davis was faced with new allegations of domestic violence, Paul was suddenly in need of a new dance partner. Many were asked, but Joshua was the man who accepted, and now he’s set up for a massively high-profile payday against a non-Heavyweight boxer.
Fury should be understanding, given his love of tune-up fights and his own spectacle matchup versus Francis Ngannou (highlights here). Instead, “Gypsy King” is outraged and angry over Joshua’s recent comments, and he hopes to see Joshua knocked out.
He also promises to do the deed himself if he happens to meet him in person.
“I just saw Anthony Joshua in a video talking about, ‘If he kills somebody, he kills somebody’ in the boxing ring,” Fury said. “He’s a little bit long in the tooth to be talking shag like that. He’s 37 years old at the end of his career, fighting a YouTuber, a Disney channel guy who Tommy beat. And now he’s talking about killing him to try and sell — please, you’re barking up the wrong tree, idiot.
“Here’s a fun fact: if I ever come across you bum, I’m knocking you dead spark out. I ain’t a YouTuber or a man half your size. I am him, the man. You’re a classless loser, coming off a 15-month knockout defeat to a local lad. Imagine if someone from Markham knocked me out? Pff. You big bum useless dosser. I can’t wait if Jake Paul knocks you spark out you big bum.”
Hopefully, Fury and Joshua can finally settle their business in the ring in 2026. The fight is long overdue yet could still serve as one of the biggest boxing matches of the year.
