Welcome to Day 11 of the Best Things Ever Tournament on Blazer’s Edge! For those who haven’t caught up yet, this is a March Madness style bracket of completely random, yet honestly pretty good, things matched up against each other. The extensive first round will whittle 64 Good Things down to 32. Then the real battles begin on the way to naming the Best Thing Ever in 2026.
All you have to do in order to participate is vote each day for your favorite in a two-item, head-to-head battle.
This post matches
up the most popular sport in the world, Soccer, with one of the most popular toys of all time, Lego.
Soccer (or if you’re outside the U.S., football) needs no introduction. It’s played in streets, parks, and fields across the globe. Chances are you can drop a hexagon-panel ball anywhere on the planet and within ten minutes have a game going. The World Cup is a global event. Soccer leagues proliferate on every continent except Antarctica, and that’s only because penguins are too busy researching differential calculus.
But most kids have, at one time or another, played with Lego. Adults have picked up the hobby now too, since the colorful bricks come in carefully-crafted sets that pretty much qualify them as a work of art. Whether it’s the big tub of “make whatever you want” or your 3000-piece Eiffel Tower box, it’s a great way to spend an afternoon.
Will Soccer or Lego move on to the second round? Cast your vote below and share your reasoning as well!
