The early season tune-ups continue tonight for Tennessee as the Volunteers are set to welcome North Florida to town for another non-conference matchup. Tennessee improved to 2-0 over the weekend, crushing Northern Kentucky with some hot shooting. Tonight they’ll run into the Ospreys who are coming off of a 40-point loss to Florida in Gainesville.
Tennessee had both Nate Ament and Ja’Kobi Gillespie going on Saturday, proving how deadly this team can be with both of them on. They’ll be looking to continue
that tonight, along with cleaning up some things defensively.
“We know they shoot as many three’s as anybody in the country,” Rick Barnes said of North Florida on Tuesday. “And you know when you play a team that can do that and are willing to shoot them all night long, they’re never out of the game. They’re going to continue to play their style.”
North Florida, of course, is where Chaz Lanier previously played before landing at Tennessee last season. Who’s he going to root for tonight?
“Well, I know who paid him,” Barnes quipped. “Does that have anything to do with it?”
