Teofimo Lopez sat down with Ring Magazine to talk about where he’s at in his career and where things stand for a potential showdown with Shakur Stevenson. While it seems that a deal for a Lopez vs Stevenson fight hasn’t been finalized, Lopez pretty much goes in full promotional mode as he talks up the matchup.
“At this point we both want to fight, we want to get it down,” Lopez said. “We talked about it on the X app, now it’s all about the business side of the people and those guys to settle it and finish
it…To be real, I don’t see why (it doesn’t happen). I think it’s great, it makes sense, it’s a marketing establishment when it comes to all this and black and brown is how you get down.
“Make sure you have Netflix. If any other ones out there, make sure you have that. It’s going to happen early next year, 2026. It’s going to be a global fight, really. And on top of that it’s going to be one to watch, you don’t want to miss it. You got two technicians, you got speed, you got power, you got southpaw, you got orthodox. I mean, what more do you want?”
Teofimo Lopez is most recently coming off of a clear win over Arnold Barboza while Shakur Stevenson last defeated William Zepeda. If this fight does formally materialize it will make for a the kind of fight people have been looking to see Stevenson in for some time.
