Oregon volleyball traveled to Seattle to face the Washington Huskies on Halloween night. There would be no treats on this night, with the Ducks getting swept by the Huskies 22-25, 19-25, 16-25.
Washington
opened the first set with a 3-0 run, and Oregon was not able to make up ground to tie the set, much less establish a lead.
Oregon established some early leads in the second set. The Ducks’ serve was in form, with four service aces in set two alone. But after tying the set 12-12, Oregon’s issues with the blocking of the Huskies became apparent. It was all Washington the rest of the way, and the Huskies finished the set with a 6-1 run.
Oregon played to a 4-4 tie in the third set, but UW took off with a 4-0 run. A later 8-1 run gave the Huskies a 21-13 lead, and that was that.
The Ducks had a .117 H%, which is their worst attack performance of the season. Their second-worst attack percentage? That was when they hit .155 on October 12th against the…Huskies.
Oregon had four blocks to eight by the Huskies, who hit .372 for the match.
Alanah Clemente and Valentina Vaulet each had 10 kills.
The second half of conference play will not get any easier. Oregon travels east to play #1 Nebraska on the road, tomorrow at 11:00 am PT. We will then find out how much this young team has improved against the best in the country.
