Barcelona president Joan Laporta has offered a brief update on Karim Adeyemi following his return to the city after watching the World Cup final in New York.
Adeyemi arrived in Barcelona last week but there’s been no official confirmation of his move yet. Laporta was met by reporters at the airport on Tuesday and said the deal is almost complete. “It will be done tomorrow,” he told Jijantes
Borussia Dortmund boss Niko Kovac had already revealed that the club have said goodbye to Adeyemi and admits
that the forward will be missed at the Bundesliga club.
“We said goodbye to him. When Karim was in the locker room for the last time, we all said our goodbyes and even chatted for a while. We wish him all the best if everything goes well, and we’re confident it will. Now we’re focusing on the players who are here and those who are yet to come,” he said.
“Karim had his strengths, that’s clear. What we will undoubtedly lose is speed. With his speed, we could create dangerous situations. But we are working on it. We will diligently ensure that we adequately, and even better, replace the players who have left. It will be difficult.”
Adeyemi will sign a five-year contract with Barcelona and then link up with his new team-mates for pre-season.
