Barcelona midfielder Gavi is hoping that Julian Alvarez can fulfill his dream of signing for the Catalans in the summer transfer window.
Alvarez has revealed he wants to leave Atletico Madrid, while Barcelona president Joan Laporta has said the club have made an offer for the Argentina international.
Gavi, along with many of his Barcelona team-mates, says he would be happy to have Alvarez at Camp Nou.
“Hopefully. He’ll see what he does with his future, but of course I’d love for him to be with us. Besides,
it’s his dream,” he told Mundo Deportivo.
Joao Cancelo is another player that Barcelona are hoping to land permanently this summer after an impressive loan spell.
Gavi is set to come up against the defender and his Portugal team-mates next at the World Cup when the two teams meet on Monday and is looking forward to the game.
“No, the truth is we haven’t spoken. I think both he and I are focused and concentrated on the game,” he added.
“I don’t think he’ll talk to me until after the game, and I won’t talk to him either. We’re both focused on our country, our national team, and winning.”
The winners of the tie will face USA or Belgium in the quarter-finals of the World Cup.
