Richard Riakporhe is most recently coming off a fifth round stoppage over Jeamie TKV and says he’s already looking up the ladder as he awaits a world title opportunity. Speaking to Sky Sports, Riakphore says his style adds something to the heavyweight division and that it’s evident when he fights that he’s trying to deliver both damage and entertainment to the fans. Now having a British title under wraps, the next step is for Riakphore to angle for a major world title next.
“I want a title fight,”
he said. “I’m really interested to see who wins with Daniel Dubois and [WBO champion Fabio] Wardley. Everybody’s waiting to see what’s going on with [Oleksandr] Usyk. I want one of them titles.”
Riakphore would continue by saying there’s now a new crop of heavyweights arising in the division and they’re all eager to get their opportunities, so if established champions aren’t willing to step up to the plate then they should give up the belts and let the rest fight it out.
As of now Riakphore isn’t specifically positioned to secure the opportunity he’s aiming for in the immediate future, but he knows staying ready is a big part of the sport and things can change in a hurry, and in that respect he’s doing his part and actively pushing to get his big shot.
