The Miami Dolphins have invited some free agent linebackers to the team facilities on Monday for workouts. According to NBC Houston’s Aaron Wilson, Jaheim Thomas and Kenneth Murray were in South Florida meeting with the coaching staff. The move comes after head coach Jeff Hafley told the media on Sunday that rookie linebacker Trey Moore, who was in line to be a starter, will “definitely miss some time with an ankle.”
Moore was injured in the first quarter of the Dolphins Preseason Week 2 loss to the New
York Giants. Moore rushed quarterback Jameis Winston, leaping in an attempt to block the pass as it was thrown. When Moore landed, he rolled his ankle and fell to the ground. He was helped off the field, unable to put any weight on his left leg, before being carted into the locker room.
Thomas was undrafted in 2025 after playing at Cincinnati, Arkansas, and Wisconsin during his college career. He was invited to a tryout with the Carolina Panthers during their rookie minicamp, but did not sign with the team. He played for the newly founded Louisville Kings in the UFL this spring, helping them win the league title. He finished fourth in the league in tackles with 64, two passes defensed, and a half-sack, playing in 10 games. He added a playoff-high 15 tackles with three passes defensed in two postseason games.
Murray was a first-round pick (23rd overall) by the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2020 NFL Draft. He spent four years with the Chargers before signing a two-year contract with the Tennessee Titans. He only played one season in Tennessee, however, as the Dallas Cowboys traded for him ahead of last year.
He has 497 tackles in his career, along with 14 passes defensed, three interceptions, two forced fumbles, one fumble recoveries, and 9.5 sacks.
