Princeton, Fairfield and South Dakota St., who made up half of the top six spots last week, all suffered losses. Rhode Island moved into the top spot for the first time this season. The Rams are 19-2, have won 13 in a row and are a perfect 10-0 in Atlantic 10 play.
The Tigers, who had been atop the ranking the last eight weeks, lost to Columbia. That snapped their 15-game winning streak. They moved down to No. 4 this week.
Richmond and North Dakota St. moved up to second and third. The Spiders are
18-4 and have won seven in a row. The Bison are winners of 18 consecutive games and have a 20-2 overall record. George Mason rounded out the top five. The Patriots are 10-0 in the A10 and have won nine straight to move to 15-6 overall.
The Stags slid back two to No. 6 following their loss to Quinnipiac. That ended their 13-game win streak, and they are now 18-4 overall. The Bobcats jumped from 25 to 12 with the win. Tricia Fabbri’s group is alone atop the MAAC standings at 13-0 and 18-4 overall with 13 straight wins.
SDSU fell to No. 10 following a loss at South Dakota. The Jackrabbits, who went three full years without losing a Summit League game, have now lost two league games this season.
Columbia’s win over Princeton elevated the Lions to No. 7 this week. Montana St. followed them in eighth. That’s a nine-spot jump for the Bobcats, who are 16-5. Harvard moved up one spot to No. 9, which gives the Ivy League three teams in the top 10.
San Diego St. moved up from 19th to 11th. Davidson fell out of the top 10 to No. 13.
One new team joined the ranking in South Florida at 24. The Bulls replaced Colorado St.
