The Kentucky Baseball team wrapped up its regular season yesterday with a wild matchup against Arkansas that saw the Razorbacks score 10 runs in the first inning.
Kentucky responded by scoring 9 runs in the 5th inning, tying the game at 12-12, but Arkansas was able to pull ahead in the 6th to secure the series victory with a 16-12 win.
Kentucky wraps up the regular season with a 31-20 overall record and 13-17 mark in conference play. It was a tough way to end the regular season, but all eyes turn to Hoover,
Alabama now as Kentucky enters SEC Tournament play.
Kentucky enters the SEC Tournament as the 13-seed, meaning they will take on Vanderbilt in the second game of the day on Tuesday. The Commodores took the regular season series 2-1 when the two squads met in mid-April. Vanderbilt enters the SEC Tournament with a record of 32-24 and a 14-16 mark in conference play. The ‘Dores will come to Hoover with some momentum though, coming off a sweep of the South Carolina Gamecocks this weekend.
Kentucky is likely on the safe side of the bubble when it comes to the NCAA Tournament, as most projections moved the Wildcats in after picking up that Thursday night victory over Arkansas, but a win in the SEC Tournament would add an extra layer of comfort. Meanwhile, Vanderbilt is also on the NCAA Tournament bubble and will be looking to add another win to its resume.
Needless to say, Tuesday’s matchup will be a big one.
