Welcome to Columbia, Colin! The offensive lineman joins a group of four other additions through the portal: Zack Owens, Josh Atkins, Will Kemna and Luke Work.
Sorensen will have two more seasons of eligibility remaining after spending two years at Charleston Southern. With the Buccaneers, he was an honorable mention All-Conference by the Big South coaches and Phil
Steele placed him on this third-team All-Conference list.
Hailing from Florida, Sorensen helped his high school to a 30-6 record over three seasons, winning a pair of regional titles and was named All-Area one year before the award was halted. The offensive lineman was also a multi-sport athlete at Niceville High School, competing on the basketball and track teams as well.
Per CSUSports, CSU Head Coach had high praise for the athlete saying, “Colin is a big, long athlete from Florida. He really is like a Power Forward in basketball with great feet and great hands …. we have had multiple evaluations on him, a really really good football player and a great family.”
According to PFF, the left tackle played for 700-plus snaps last season and received an offensive grade of 64.3. Additionally, he achieved a 67.9 pass-blocking grade and 59.6 run-blocking grade.
Where He Fits
The left tackle will be joining a loaded group of offensive lineman who have joined Eli Drinkwitz and his staff via the portal. He’ll have big man, All-SEC Cayden Green to learn from as well.
When He’ll Play
After preliminary reports, only Atkins is expected to start right away for the Tigers, but Sorensen will add more experience and depth to the lineup. But keep in mind that the new addition still has two years of eligibility and can see his role increase. The Tiger offense is going through hefty changes, so the offensive lineman pickups have allowed for the group to prioritize its growth across the board.
What It Means
As mentioned, with Sorensen’s addition there will be more flexibility across the board. He’s bringing along the experience too, having started 20 games during his tenure at Charleston Southern. Last year, he recorded just above 700 snaps and 359 in pass protection, only allowing 23 pressures and 6 sacks.
A new quarterback has entered the fold and the Tigers will look to establish a new offensive identity in the 2026 season. I’d be on the lookout for more additions to the group as time progresses.
