We should have known better.
UFC CEO, Dana White, tried to warn us that Jon Jones was too unreliable to headline the $60 million UFC White House event, but that didn’t stop “Bones” from begging the Las Vegas fight boss for a spot in the UFC Freedom 250 lineup, scheduled for the soon-to-be-repaired White House lawn in Washington, D.C., on June 14, 2026.
Jones confirmed he was in negotiations for a return at the White House as recently as last week, where he was loosely attached to an Alex
Pereira fight for the interim heavyweight title. Then disaster struck during the UFC 326 weigh ins last Friday, with White admitting a major player was scratched at the eleventh hour.
Was it Jones?
We know it wasn’t Conor McGregor, who already revealed he was not part of the UFC White House fight card (likely due to this). I don’t think there is another fighter with a big enough name or reputation (this bridge-burning former champ doesn’t count) to force Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell “kill himself.”
Leave it to the Ted Bundy of UFC to pull off a murder–suicide.
